NEWPORT NEWS, VA- Fresh off their best performance of the season, the VSU Men's Indoor Track and Field team prepares to continue to roll in the CNU Vince Brown Invitational.
Top Performers
Atrell Williams (Throws) – Once again,
Atrell Williams dominated the shot put as his best throw covered 14.76 meters which placed him first of 15 throwers in the Marlin Invitational. This was his first, first place finish of the season. His 15.02 - meter gives him the top mark in the conference.
Devonte Moore (Throws) –
Devonte Moore posted his third straight top-five finish after posting a 14.18-meter toss which placed him fourth in the Marlin Invitational. He has the second-best throw in the conference with his recent 14.79-meter toss.
Isaiah Ramadane (Throws)
- Isaiah Ramadane placed second after his best throw covered 14.43 meters which was also a season-high for him Marlin Invitational. His 14.23-meter throw in the VCU Indoor Invitational is the third best mark in the CIAA.
Joel Bowers (Sprints) –
Joel Bowers currently has the 13
th best time in the CIAA behind his time of 50.81 in which he posted in the VMI Invitational.
Jaelan Black (Sprints) -
Jaelan Black placed third in his heat and seventh of 22 overall in the preliminaries behind his 7.23 finish
. Black went on to place sixth in the finals finishing in 7.18 in the Marlin Invitational
. He currently ties for 11
th in the CIAA in 60-meter dash behind his time of 7.12.
Jahaz Morgan (Sprints/Jumps) –
Jahaz Morgan has emerged as one of the strongest competitors on the team as he placed first in his heat and third overall behind his time of 8.60 in the preliminaries before placing third in the finals behind his personal record 8.49 sprint in the 60-meter hurdles. He also placed second of six competitors in the triple jump after his best jump covered 13.78 meters in the Marlin Invitational. His 8.49 sprint in the 60-meter hurdles give him the fourth best mark in the conference while his 13.78-meter triple jump places him ninth.
Joseph Briscoe (Jumps) –
Joseph Briscoe placed second of eight competitors in the high jump after his best leap got up to 1.92 meters in the Marlin Invitational. The 1.97-meter jump ranks him third in the conference.
Shaukeeme Mitchell-Watson (Jumps) –
Shaukeeme Mitchell-Watson earned a new personal best in the long jump after his best jump covered 6.49 meters which placed him sixth in the Marlin Invitational. He places 10
th in the conference in the long jump with his recent performance in the Marlin Invitational. Mitchell – Watson also has the seventh best mark in the CIAA in the high-jump with his recent leap of 1.87-meters.
