BRASELTON, GA – The Virginia State University Trojans are set begin their 2022 campaign as they are slated to travel down to Braselton, Georgia to take part in the HBCU Golf Invitational starting on Sunday, September 25 and ending on Tuesday, September 27. The VSU golf team also looks to bounce back from a 10^th place finish at the 2022 PGA WORKS Minority Collegiate Championship in which they finished with a team score of 1,036 while shooting +188.
 
 
Coming into the season,  Jaun Ruiz-Patino plans to continue his consistency after being named to the 2022 All-CIAA golf team as he finished in 11^th place with a two-round stroke of 153 (75 & 78) and shot +11 in the 2022 CIAA Golf Championship. Esteban Arango Suarez followed Patino with a tie for 14^th place shooting a +17. Simeon Sledge finished tied for 26^th with a +30. Andrew Rhodes rounded out the group with a finish of +33 which placed him 28^th. The squad finished fourth in the CIAA last season and look to improve in the 2022 season as Head Men's Golf Coach Justin Parker added some heavy hitters to the squad.

About the Event
The 37th annual HBCU Golf Invitational on September 25 -27, 2022 will be played at the Chateau Elan Golf Club in Braselton, GA. The 54-hole tournament will feature HBCU Men's & Women's Golf Teams.
 
 
After the conclusion of this HBCU Golf Invitational, the Trojans are scheduled to partake in the Beechwood Collegiate Invitational in Ahoskie, NC starting Sunday, October 16 and ending Monday, October 17.
