Norman, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) has announced the recipients of the 2025-26 GCAA Team Academic Awards, with Virginia State University earning the distinction of Division II Academic National Champions.
The Trojans posted a 3.83 team GPA during the 2025-26 academic year to claim the Division II national championship. VSU was also recognized with the GCAA President's Special Recognition Award, which honors teams that achieve a cumulative team GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Virginia State was one of just two HBCUs to earn an Academic National Championship. Maryland Eastern Shore captured the Division I and HBCU Academic National Championships with a 3.943 team GPA.
"For our team to be recognized as the NCAA Division II Academic National Champions is an honor," said VSU Head Golf Coach Justin Parker '11. "It is a reflection of the tremendous leadership of our President and Athletic Director's vision to foster the development of the total student-athlete.
"Playing great golf is only a portion of what we are trying to accomplish on the Virginia State University golf team. We want each of our student-athletes to leave a better student, person and golfer than they were when they came to us."
