ELIZABETH CITY, NC– The VSU Trojans Golf team placed second the ECSU Round-Up on Monday, March 14.
The Trojans finished the invitational with a two round total of 695. Virginia Union, finished in first place with a team stroke of 600, followed by Elizabeth City State with a third place team stroke of 884. Winston – Salem State finished in fourth place with 902 strokes while St. Augustine's finished last with 999.
Juan Ruiz - Patino led VSU with a two round stroke of 159 (75 and 84), which allowed him to place sixth of 22 golfers.
Esteban Arango finished a placed behind Ruiz – Patino in seventh place with his best two round stroke of the season with a 167 (85 and 82).
Zahmel Wright also posted his best two round score of the season as well with his 183 (94 and 89) which placed him 10
th while
Andrew Rhodes was a place behind him in 11
th with his 187 (93 and 94).
Simeon Sledge finished strong in 13
th place after posting a 191 (98 and 93).
The Trojans will grace Dogwood Trace golf course for the first and last time this season as the squad prepares to take home first place in the VSU Spring Classic Thursday, March 24.
