Women's Bowling Earns First Victory of the Season in the CIAA Event I

ETTRICK, VA – The Virginia State women's bowling team earned their first victory of the season at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Event I hosted by Shaw University in Raleigh, N.C. The Trojans improved to 1-23 overall. 
 
The Trojans competed Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Event I hosted by Shaw University in Raleigh, N.C. The Trojans improved its overall record to 1-23 overall after a 1-11 performance against CIAA Northern Division opponents at the Stars and Strikes Family Entertainment Center.

Virginia State combined for 4,488 total pins and 1,636 pins in Baker's for 6,124 total. VSU's Hailey Darrington earned the teams highest average (121.67) as she earned the highest score on the team against ECSU in game three (169).

Virginia State fell to Virginia Union (563-468), Bowie State (707-533), Elizabeth City State (551-450), Virginia Union 525-474 and Elizabeth City State 611-468 on day one.

The second day, Virginia State started with a loss against Bowie State 635-591 followed by losses to Virginia Union 545-505, Elizabeth City State 628-492 and Bowie State 696-507.
 
The third and final day, the Trojans started with a loss to Bowie State 715-534 before taking down their rivals in Virginia Union 603-596 to earn their first win of the season before falling to Elizabeth City State 499-589.

Virginia State will return to action in November (19-20) for the CSU Lady Eagles Invitational in Baltimore, MD at AMF Woodlawn Lanes.
