ETTRICK, VA (September 14, 2021) - The Virginia State University Trojans will hit the road in the middle of the week for a date with the Christopher Newport University Captains. VSU will look to improve upon their 2-3 overall record with a win in their first road game against CNU Wednesday night.

Last Time Out
VSU picked up their second win of the season on Saturday afternoon against Alderson Broaddus. While the Trojans were able to stay ahead in every set prior to the third, VSU's largest margin of victory was just five points in the 3-0 victory. VSU has faced Christopher Newport just once in program history. CNU won the only meeting back in 1997.
Scouting the Captains
Christopher Newport is a D-III institution apart of Captains Athletic Conference. The Captains are out to a 7-2 start to the 2021 season, winning their last four games. Offensively, CNU is led by Maddie Carter and Kayla McIntyre who combine for 190 kills so far this season. Defensively, Noelle Starr is the leader as she has registered 154 digs with an average of 4.67 digs per set.

Saturday, September 18 the Trojans will take a trip to Wilmington, Delaware to compete against Adelphi University and Wilmington University in the Wildcat Regional Invitational. VSU will take on Adelphi at 2:30 p.m. and will be back that evening to take on the host, Wilmington, at 6:00 p.m.
