ETTRICK, V.A. – Virginia State men's basketball and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced the 2021-22 schedule.
The 2021-2022 schedule will include eight non-conference games along with 18-game conference schedule.
The Trojans are a part of the Northern Division of the CIAA with Bowie State, Elizabeth City State, Lincoln (Pa.), Shaw and Virginia Union who will play one another in home-and-home matchups. The South Division consists of Claflin, Fayetteville State, Johnson C. Smith, Livingstone, St. Augustine's and Winston-Salem State. With the exception of Fayetteville State and Livingstone, VSU will play each South Division school just once.
The conference schedule consists of an 18-game slate ending on Feb. 19 at Lincoln (Pa.). The CIAA season starts Wednesday, Dec. 1 on the road at Fayetteville State. Home dates for conference play includes: St. Augustine's (Dec. 9), Fayetteville State (Dec. 18), Claflin (Dec. 20), Virginia Union (Jan. 15), Shaw (Jan. 19), Lincoln (Pa.) (Jan. 29), Elizabeth City State (Feb. 12) and Bowie State (Feb. 16).
Road conference contests include Fayetteville State, Winston-Salem State, Livingstone, Johnson C. Smith, Elizabeth City State, Bowie State, Virginia Union, Shaw while the regular season finale will be at Lincoln (Pa.).
The 2022 CIAA Basketball Championships will be held in Baltimore, Maryland for the first time ever. The Trojans will head to Royal Farms Arena February 22-26 with the first round of action tipping off February 23.
Virginia State will only make one trip to Maryland this season prior to the Conference tournament. The trip to the 301 will be for a date with the Bulldogs of Bowie State slated for Jan. 27.
Each game will be streamed live through the Trojan Sports Network.
