ETTRICK, VA (October 16, 2019)- The VSU Trojan Volleyball team are set to travel to Bowie, MD to take on the Bulldogs of Bowie State University in a CIAA divisional matchup on October 17. The first serve is set for 6pm.
Virginia State currently leads the all-time series record at 37-16. Head coach Amanda Walker has never lost against the Bulldogs (5-0) and hopes to keep that streak alive.
Currently, the Trojans are 8-7 on the season after taking down Lincoln PA in a 3-set sweep on Oct. 14. Bowie State currently hold a record of 3-12, after falling to Virginia Union in 3 sets.
VSUÂ has battled against some tough competition to start the season which has prepared them for conference play. The Trojans are loaded with talent, led by Bowie, MD native Jailyn Ivey. Ivey, a junior, currently leads Virginia State in kills (130) and in digs (123). Junior Bria Anderson currently leads the team in assists (235) after competing in 41 sets.
The Bulldogs are led by Madison Marshall who leads the team in kills (54). Bowie State also gets production from junior, Bianca Tucker who currently leads the Bulldogs in assists (138).
