Box Score 2 ETTRICK, Va.- The VSU softball team split their home season opener of the season in a matchup against Goldey-Beacom College splitting the series 14-22 and 12-11.

In Game 1 the Trojans found themselves battling till the last at-bat of the afternoon as they eventually lost what was a lead Goldey-Beacom (1-1) found some early success early in the game. The Trojans continued to fight tying the game in the bottom of the seventh inning sending the game into the tie breaking innings. Costly errors by the VSU Trojans allowed the Lightening of Goldey-Beacom to easily slide pass and secure a 22-14 victory to close out the competition.

In Game 2 the VSU Trojans entered the competition with a strong start securing an early lead of the game. Goldey-Beacom was able to come back and to take the lead in the later innings of the game. VSU took the game play-by-play in the bottom of the seventh securing hits to cut GBC lead. VSU was able to come back and close out the second game of the competition with a 12-11 victory.
