Softball earns three wins at CIAA Round Up

Raleigh, N.C. (Mar. 28, 2026)- The Virginia State softball team traveled down to Raleigh, North Carolina for the CIAA Round Up and ended the three-day event with three wins. 

GAME 1 SU 2 VSU 5 

  • Neither team scored in the first two innings 

  • The Lady Bears managed to get two runs on the board in the bottom the third 

  • In the top of the fourth, Mylia Knight was hit by a pitch. Carma Williams then hot a sac bunt to get Knight into scoring position. Knight then came around to score on a wild pitch 

  • In the fifth back-to-back singles set the Trojans up for a big inning. Emma Fleming then hit a sac fly to bring one home. Lauren Parham then scored on a pass ball giving VSU the lead 3-2 

  • In the sixth the Trojans keep up the offensive explosion putting up two more runs 

  • Williams got the win in the circle 

GAME 2 FSU 4 VSU 1 

  • The Broncos hit a pair of two run homeruns in the third and first innings 

  • The Trojans wouldn't get any offensive momentum until the sixth. Parham would single and Shamya Hankins would bring her in with a double 

GAME 3 LC 4 VSU 3 

  • The Trojans struck early in the game. Parham singled and then stole second. She then advanced to third on a ground out then stole home. 

  • The Blue Bears were able to get one back in the bottom half of the inning and then tie the game in the home half of the fourth 

  • Livingstone then gained a two-run lead in the fifth. Mylia Knight hit a home run in the seventh but the Trojans were unable to tie the game 

GAME 4 JCSU 0 VSU 8 

  • The Trojans and Golden Bulls were both held scoreless in the first four innings 

  • In the fifth VSU managed to get the first run across thanks to a Cain-Dixon Suicide squeeze bunt 

  • In the fifth Knight tripled to bring in Parham. In the sixth Meadows singled, Parham singled Cain-Dixon doubled and then Emma Fleming scored a pass ball to make the score 6-0, Knight then hit her second homerun of the Round Up to make it 8-0 

GAME 5 CLAFLIN 8 VSU 2 

  • The Trojans kept the Panthers off the board in the first. Micaiah Cooper in the bottom half of the inning managed to bring in a run  

  • Claflin then exploded for six runs in the second inning, Cain-Dixon started to chip away with a sac fly in the third 

  • The Panthers then added two insurance runs in the seventh inning 

Game 6 WSSU 0 VSU 1 

  • The Trojans managed the only run in the bottom of the first. Parham singled then went to second on an error. Knight then hit an RBI groundout to bring her home 

  • Avan Brown pitched for the Trojans and only allowed the Rams six hits but never a real scoring opportunity
