Box Score ETTRICK, Va. (November 22, 2017) -- Double-doubles from Virginia State University's Chrisanna Green helped the Lady Trojans cruise to an 95-71 win over Tusculum College tonight in the VSU Multipurpose Center. Junior forward Chrisanna Green (Jamestown, NY) led the way for the Trojans posting a game high 22 points, 13 total rebounds, three assists and one steal.
Virginia State shot 54.7 percent from the field, 41.2 percent from behind the arc and had five players to score in double figures. Senior guard Keyana Brown (Williamsburg, Va.) was VSU's second-leading scorer with 19 points, while guard Alexis Smith (Lusby, Md.) secured 15 points. Followed by senior guard Dionna Smith (Fort Stewart, Ga.) and senior guard Mia Fitts (Richmond, Va.) tallied 14 and 13, respectively.
Marcus set the tone early contributing four points and fueling a 7-5 lead to start the game. Virginia State opened up a 18-14 lead to close out the first quarter, while tying the game twice in the contest.
In the second stanza, Virginia State built its lead to 24-18 by the 6:38 mark, continuing to dominate on the court. The Trojans proceeded to add points to the board for the remainder of the half while tallying 14 points to take a 7-point advantage into the break, 38-31.
With 8:01 to go in the third, a three pointer by Mia Fitts put Virginia State up 43-33. Tusculum netted 19 points in the remaining minutes of the quarter, cutting Virginia State's lead to 63-52, heading into the final period.
The Trojans added 32 points in the final period to win the game 95-71. VSU led for 33:13 in the contest.
Tusculum leading scorers were Kasey Johnson (15), Yolizma Cupidan (11) and Martoria Patton (11).
With the victory over the Pioneers, VSU improves to (4-0) while Tusculum moves to (4-1).
