Box Score Newberry, S.C. (November 18, 2017)– The Virginia State University men's basketball team rolled to an 94-77 victory over Lees-McRae College at Eleazer Arena tonight, with junior guard
Walter Williams posting a 14 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal to lead the way for the Trojans.
VSU shot 55 percent from the field, 45 percent from behind the arc and had four players in double figures. Sophomore forward
Andrew Corum collected 16 points, while guard
Brandon Holley adding 14 points. Followed by senior
Richard Granberry and forward
William Vedder tallied 12 and 10, respectively.
Williams and Granberry set the tone early, working together for the Trojans first 11 points and fueling an 11-8 VSU run to start the game. The Trojans opened up a 51-38 lead to close out the first half and never looked back.
In the second half, the Trojans built their lead to up 78-53 by the 9:38 mark. VSU continued to dominate on the court by adding an additional 12 points with 1:55 mark left in the game. The Trojans added two points on a layup by Phillip Owens to edge the team 92-74. VSU added its final basket of the competition at the :30 second mark with a layup by
