Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- The Virginia State University women's basketball team overpowered the Newport News Apprentice School Builders on November 17 with a 90-56 victory.

Joy Hickman rounded out the double digit scoring with 13 points. Senior
Taylor Daniels controlled the Trojans rebounds, with a team high of 7 overall.
The Trojans set the tempo for the game early with a shot from behind the arc by Hickman 15 secs into the first quarter. VSU quickly pulled away, increasing the scoring gap to round out the first quarter with a score of 23-11.
McKinney opened the 2 quarter with a 3 point shot to give VSU an extended edge over the Builders. The Trojans played hard, dominating the Apprentice Schools home court with a 20 point lead (47-27) into halftime.
The Trojans showed no mercy in the final 2 quarters of regulation, racking in 43 points to secure the 90-56 win.
Controlling the court, the Trojans secured 46 points off of turnovers, 40 bench points, and 23 second chance points. The Trojans largest lead of the night over the Builders was a 37 lead points.
VSU ended the night shooting 38.1 percent (32-84) from the field, 31 percent (13-42) from behind the arc, and 50 percent (13-26) at the line, while the Builders ended the night shooting 41.3 percent (19-46) from the field, 8.3percent (1-12) from behind the arc, and 65.4 percent (17.26) at the line.
The Trojans will be back in action on November 25-26 for the Trojans Thanksgiving Classic. VSU will face Salem International University on the Day 1 of the Classic with a 6pm tip-off.
