Box Score ETTRICK, Va.- The Virginia State University volleyball team started their homecoming week on October 17 with a 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-18, 25-16) victory over I-95 rivals, Virginia Union University

The win advanced the Trojans to a 13-6 overall record, 9-3 in the conference, and 5-1 in the Northern Division.

 VSU dominated set 1, as they held strong to the lead. The Panthers attempted to close the scoring gap with kills, but could not compete with the Trojans. VSU took the 25-20 set win.

The Panthers rallied back in set 2 taking the 25-22 win. The lead toggled back and forth as both team worked to control the game. Several errors by the Trojans gave VUU the advantage to take the set.

Making sure they secured the remaining 2 set and the win, the Trojans held the Panthers to under 20 points in the final sets. Taking advantage of kills and Panther errors helped lift VSU to their victory over VUU.

The Trojans will return to the court on October 22, to participate in the Mount Olive Tournament. VSU will take on the tournament host at 1pm, followed by a matchup against Coker at 3pm.
