Box Score ETTRICK, Va.- The Virginia State University volleyball team extended their overall record to 12-6 after defeating the Bulldogs of Bowie State University on October 13.
Sophomore
Sydney Uko led the Trojans on their quick 3 set sweep with 7 kills. Sophomore
Myia Jones tallied 5 kills while sophomore
Hailey Heyward collected 4 kills.
VSU snatched an early 7-0 lead to begin the matchup. The Bulldogs attempted to gain momentum, but the Trojans were already too far ahead to be reached. VSU took set 1 with a final score of 25-15.
Sets 2 and 3 undoubtedly belongs to VSU, as they held BSU to under 10 point in each set. Thrashing the Bulldogs in set 2, the Trojans secured 15 consecutive points to take the 25-4 win. Set 3 mimicked set 2 as VSU collected the 25-6 set win for the overall victory.
Rounding out the night, senior
Diamond Simpson stepped in with 11 assists.
The Trojans will return to the VSU Multipurpose Center for their October 17 matchup against the Panthers of Virginia Union University. The first serve is set for 6pm.
