Box Score ETTRICK, Va- The Trojans of Virginia State University suffered a tragic loss against the Falcons of Saint Augustine University on February 4 with a final score of 77-69.
Senior
Tiffanie Adair finished the game with 21 points and 8 rebounds, senior Dashae Jones with 19 points and 6 rebounds, and senior
Cana Marriott with 11 points and 2 steals.
Jones came out with a strong start with a steal that turned into a two point play. She continued the streak scoring the next two points with 19:02 on the clock. Following Jones, were back to back points from the Trojans forward
Tiffanie Adair, but the Falcons strong defense came in full effect with three steals in the first five minutes of the game. Saint Augustine's guard Jeanne-Marie Wilson made crucial plays scoring 5-8 in field goals and five rebounds in the first half. But the Trojans prevailed with a 3 point play by

Cana Marriott that resulted in a two point play finishing the first half with a score of 37-33.
The Trojans began the second half with a bumpy start with Jones causing a charge and senior
DeAnna Waters with 2 fouls in the first five minutes. Waters came back with a two point field goal and vital three point field goal from Jones.
Adair had a strong performance after she fouled Falcons forward Terri Jacobs, coming back with a 3 point play receiving a foul while scoring a layup, followed by a free throw. The Trojans would not let the Falcons get the best of them. Marriott scored a primitive three point field goal and made an aggressive block after a steal by the Falcons with 13:11 left on the clock. The Falcons pushed forward with 6 steals which Marriott attempted back to back blocks that resulted in a foul that brought the Falcons to a 67-63 lead.
The Trojans never gave up the fight against a hard driven defense with Falcons guard LaKiya Harris back to back baskets. The last attempts by the Trojans forward
Wynterra Pittman and Jones made an imperative three point play and a last minute two point layup to close the scoring deficit. The final score was 77-69.
VSU will take on the Panthers of Virginia Union University on Saturday February7. Tipoff is set for 2pm.
