Box Score LINCOLN, Pa.- The Trojan men's basketball team are the 2015 CIAA Northern Division Co-Champions after taking down the Lions of The Lincoln University on February 21 with an overtime final score of 72-64.
Senior
Lamar Kearse lived up to his CIAA All-Conference Team position after collecting a game high of 23 points. Sophomore
Elijah Moore tallied 15 points for the Trojans while CIAA All-Conference pick and Defensive Player of the Year senior
Tyrece Little collected 10 rebounds.
The Trojans has a slow run in the first half. Although they were able to tie the game several times, VSU trailed at halftime with a score of 22-19.
The second half seemed the mimic the first until the Trojans kicked the game into high gear. Battling back and forth for the lead, CIAA All-Rookie pick
Tyler Peterson secured a layup on a fast break bring the score to 53-48 with 3:31 left on the clock. The Lions came back and tied the game taking them into overtime.
Kearse was determined to help the Trojans win the game by secure 11 of his 23 points during overtime. After his three pointer with 3:59 left on the clock, VSU pulled away for the lead and the 72-64 win.
VSU will travel to Charlotte, NC for the 2015 CIAA Basketball Tournament on February 23-28.
