Box Score BOWIE, Md.- The Trojan men's basketball team gave the Bowie State University Bulldogs an upsetting 62-61 loss on January 28. VSU advances to a 14-5 overall record and maintains their perfect 5-0 CIAA Northern Division record.

VSU shot 34.4 percent (22-64) in field goals, 38.5 percent (5-13) from behind the arc and 54.2 (13-24) percent from the free throw line. 

Sophomore Elijah Moore took the lead in scoring for the Trojans with 17 points. The Bulldogs top scorer for the night was Cameron Knox with 18 points. Trojans who scored in the double digits were senior Lamar Kearse with 12 points and senior Xavier Parham with 11 points. Senior Tyrece Little led the game with 11 rebounds.

The men had a very close run against the Bulldogs in the first half as they battled for possession of the ball. The Trojans were able to pull away with 3 consecutive shots by Parham, Little and senior Alphonso Leary. Kearse sealed the halftime score with a jumper, bring the score 34-25.

Both teams came into the second half with fast plays. The Bulldogs made 2 back to back shots, bring the score 44-40 with 12:18 left in regulation. The Trojans put up a fight to keep the lead. As the clock ran down, the Bulldogs tied the game 61-61 with 19 seconds left in the game. Rookie Tyler Peterson was 1-1 at the free throw line, giving the Trojans the 62-61 lead. The Bulldogs gained possession with 5 seconds left on the clock, but was not able to steal the win.

The Trojans will take the court on Saturday, January 31 to take on the Lions of The Lincoln University in Daniel Gymnasium for VSU's Military Appreciation and Take a Kid to the Game Day. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
