Box Score SALISBURY, N.C.- The VSU men's basketball team took down the Livingstone College Blue Bears on the road with a final score of 70-62 on January 10.
VSU shot 43.1 percent (25-58) from the field, 27.3 percent (3-11) from behind the arc and 68.0 percent (17-25) the free throw line.
Senior
Lamar Kearse took the lead for the Trojans with 18 points. Senior
Xavier Parham collected 12 points for VSU while senior
Alphonso Leary secured 10 points. Senior
Tyrece Little helped the Trojans under the basket with 10 rebounds.
The Trojans started the game evenly matched with the Blue Bears; both teams had an 8-5 overall record. A dunk from Little put VSU on the board followed by Kearse with a shot from behind the arc.
Ken Pankey found an opening for a three pointer . Sophomore
Jamison Jeffers took the opportunity for a steal and layup. At halftime the Trojans were down, 33-30.
Regaining the lead with 16:22 on the clock in the second half, the Trojans were able to take control of the game. The men stayed consistent with passes and securing baskets.
VSU finished off the Blue Bears with a final score of 70-62.
The Trojans take the court on January 12 in Charlotte, NC to play the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
