Allen Harris scored 17 points each as Virginia State upended Lincoln (PA) 73-57 on Saturday at Daniel Gymnasium, ending the Lions three-game winning streak.

Christopher Grier had 14 points for the Trojans followed by
Kevin Wiggins with nine points.

Virginia State finished the game shooting 47.6 percent from the floor and held the Lions to 26.9 percent from the floor. They also outscored the Lion by 11 points on second chance shots and were able to score 11 points off of seven turnovers by the Lions.Â

Shooting 82.9 percent (29-35) free throws to the Lions 68.6 percent (24-35) and 40.0 percent (4-10) three-pointers to the Lions 26.3 percent (5-19) also gave the Trojans what they needed to prevail in the game.

In the first half, after five minutes of play, the Trojans went on a run to lead the Lions by 13 points to include a dunk by
Kahlil Tate. As the clock tic to zero to end the half the Trojans went into the locker room with a 10 point lead, 35-25.

VSU increased its lead to 16 by the 14:48 mark of the second half as Grier was fouled and shot 2-2 from the free throw line, following with lay-ups from Grier, Harris and Kearse  to give the team a 47-31 lead.

Over the next five minutes, the Lions were able to close the gap to four points off VSU's lead but after Harris shot 4-4 at the free throw line and hit a 3-pointer, the Trojans had a 13-point cushion, 64-51, with 3:03 to play.

The last three minutes of the game the Trojans went to the line four times to hit for seven points to close the game out with a 73-57 win.

Coach Blow stated "the team was consistent on both ends of the court most of the game tonight giving them a higher seed to avoid playing on Tuesday night."

With this win, the Trojans hold the No. 4 seed for the North going into the CIAA Championship tournament and will be back on the court at the Time Warner Arena in Charlotte, NC on Wednesday, February 26 to take on the winner of the No. 5 South or No. 6 North, times will be announced.
