Box Score ETTRICK, Va. – The Virginia State University women's basketball team finish out the year 2014 with a win over the Apprentice School Lady Builders on December 16 with a final score of 96-52. The Trojans are currently 8-2 on the season.
VSU shot 62.3 percent (43-69) from the field, 31.3 percent (5-16) from behind the arc and 55.6 percent (5-9) from the free throw line.
Senior
Da'Shae Jones took charge with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists followed by junior
Wynterra Pittman with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Senior
Tiffanie Adair secured her eighth double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Senior
DeAnna Waters collected 12 points and 7 rebounds while junior
Braxtyn Talton collected 11 points.
The Trojans did not waste any time controlling the first half as the Lady Builders tallied 12 turnovers. Jones and Waters both added 10 points to the books in the half, helping the Trojans to a score of 51-23.
The second half mimicked the first as the Trojans bulldoze over the Lady Builders.
VSU thrashed the Apprentice School with 54 bench points, 18 second chance points, 26 points off turnovers and 56 points in the paint.
The Trojans will begin 2015 with a conference game against Fayetteville State on Saturday, January 3 at 3:30 p.m. in Daniel Gymnasium.
