Box Score ETTRICK, Va. – The Virginia State University women's basketball team bolted out to a 54-21 lead and never looked back on its way to a 4-1 record with a dominating 88-53 win over Cheyney University of Pennsylvania in front of Trojan fans in Daniel Gymnasium on Friday evening.

Senior Tiffanie Adair (Spartanburg, S.C.) recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds while juniors Miesha Adams (Indian Head, Md.) and Braxtyn Talton (Macon, Ga.) tallied 10 points each.

VSU exploded to a 17-0 start just minutes into the game, the Trojans flustered the Lady Wolves to the point that Cheyney had to call a timeout.

The Trojans lead would reach 30 in the closing moments of the half, and Virginia State ultimately went into halftime with a 33-point lead, 54-21.

The second half brought more of the same, with the Trojans jumping out early. Cheyney never got closer than 28 points the rest of the evening, and VSU cruised to an easy 88-53 victory.

For day two of the Chick-Fil-A Classic, the Trojans will face the Wildcats of Wilmington University. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.
