Box Score ELIZABETH CITY, N.C.- The Virginia State University men's basketball team secures a 4-2 overall record after defeating Washington Adventist, 77-71, on the first day of the Elizabeth City State University Classic.

Senior Alphonso Leary (Norfolk, Va.) led the Trojans with 20 points while senior Lamar Kearse (Syracuse, N.Y.) finished the night with 14 points. Sophomore Ameil Terry (Annandale, Va.) rounded out the team by collecting 11 points.

VSU shot 54.0 percent (27-50) from the field, 25.0 percent (2--8) from behind the arc and 58.3 percent (21-36) from the free throw line.

The Trojans will face West Virginia State University for day two of the ECSU Classic. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
