RESULTS

Virginia State University men's indoor track & field team placed third overall with 75 team points while the women's placed fourth overall with 70 team points at the 2013 CIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships competition at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton, VA. VSU's Hildrew McNair won the men's pole vault competition to lead the men. Taylor-Ashley Bean won the 1 mile run and also the 3000m run, while Samantha Edwards won the 400m dash.

Men
Hildrew McNair won the men's pole vault competition. McNair soared for a mark of 4.14m winning his first gold medal. He placed fifth in the men's high jump with a mark of 1.85m and also in the heptathlon event with 3,779 points

Chris Henry placed second in the men's 5000m run with a time of 16:27.00

Prince Owusu-Mensah came in second place competing in the men's 800m run with a time of 1:55.59

The men's 4x400m relay team of Te'Shad Chambers, Daniel Ross, Clive Cameron, and Prince Owusu-Mensah placed second with a time of 3:18.47

The men's distance team of Justin Pittman, Clive Cameron, Xavier Wright, and Prince Owusu-Mensah placed second in their event with a time of 11:15.12

Frederick Boone placed second in the men's heptathlon event accumulating 4,371 points. He also placed third in the men's pole vault leaping 3.84m

Larry Crisp placed third in the men's high jump event with a mark of 2.00m

Darien Kearney came in third place, competing in the men's shot put event with a mark of 15.78m

Women
Taylor-Ashley Bean won the women's 1 mile run with a time of 5:26.75. She also won the women's 3000m run with a time of 11:11.69 while placing third in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:19.87

Samantha Edwards won the women's 400m dash with a blazing time of 53:97. She also came fourth in the women's 200m dash with a time of 25.08

Shannon Lewis followed Bean in the women's 3000m run placing second with a time of 11:25.39

In the field events, Judea Archie-Walker placed second in the women's shot put event with a throw of 12.46m. Millicent Barber came in fourth place with a mark of 11.91m

The women's distance medley team of Shannon Lewis, Cherish Richardson, Tykwees Bice, and Taylor-Ashley Bean placed third in their event with a time of 13:20.41

The women's 4x400m relay team of Alicia Terry, Cherish Richardson, Monique Boone, and Jovonne Tyson-King placed fourth in their event with a time of 4:02.96
