The Trojans men's 4x400m relay team won at the Winston-Salem State Open Indoor Track and Field meet on Sunday, January 20
th.
VSU's relay team of
Te'Shad Chambers,
Daniel Ross,
Clive Cameron, and
Prince Owusu-Mensah won the men's 4x400m relay event. The Trojans crossed the finish line in a time of 3:23.82.
In the men's pole vault,
Hildrew McNair placed second with 4.05m.
Jonathan McMillon participated in the men's triple jump event, placing third with a mark of 13.82m.
Two Trojans finished in the top three in the men's shot put event.
Darien Kearney and
Rey Rijos placed second and third, respectively. Kearney measured at 15.43m and 14.42m for Rijos.
Both
Daniel Ross and
Kenja Hanniford had fifth place finishes in their events.
Daniel Ross ran a time of 49.87 in the men's 400m dash
(also an NCAA provisional qualifier), while
Kenja Hanniford competed in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8:49.
The Trojan women's 4x400m relay team of
Jovonne Tyson-King,
Alicia Terry, Taylor-Ashley Bean, and
Samantha Edwards placed second in a time of 3:57.19.
Their time provisionally qualifies them for the NCAA Championships held in Birmingham Alabama in March. The women's distance medley team of
Samantha Edwards,
Alicia Terry,
Shannon Lewis, and Taylor-Ashley Bean also placed second overall in their event (13:16.24).
Deanna Thomas placed fourth in the women's 60m hurdle with a time of 9.31, while Milicent Barber competed in the women's shot put event and placed third overall with 11.87m.
