Ettrick, VA- (Daniel Gymnasium) The Lady Trojans were looking to redeem themselves after a tough loss yesterday falling to Chowan 3-2. Against the Dragons of Virginia-Lynchburg, it was evident that the Lady Trojan had no intentions of losing back to back games at home.

The first set of the match favored Virginia State heavily. VSU's Nikkisha Walker (Sr./ St. Louis, MO) set the tone for her team with dominant strikes posting a total of 5 early kills.  The Lady Trojans recorded 12 team kills compared to four Dragon kills. VSU dominated the first set with a 25-10 win.

The second set went similar to the first as the Lady Trojans continued to overpower the Dragons. The Dragons did not have an answer for the relentless attack of Virginia State. Setter Demera Thomason (Fr./ Chandler, AZ) and Jenessa Shinauld (So./ Sacramento, CA) energized the Lady Trojans defense with great digs and assists.  Aubree Parker (Jr./ Fort Pierce, FL) and Whitley Bradley (R-So./ Cibilo, TX) stepped up and handled the offensive end accounting for majority of the kills in the second set. The Lady Trojans walked away from the second set victoriously, 25-14.

With all off the momentum and a possible straight-set sweep of the Dragons, the Lady Trojans were looking to end the match early after playing a five set match the day before. Virginia State jumped out to an early lead with a barrage of punishing kills. VSU closed out the game with an onslaught of kills closing the match out in the same manner they started, defeating Virginia University of Lynchburg 25-10 in the final set.  Virginia State won their first home game of the 2012 season in dominating fashion 3-0.

VSU's Nikkisha Walker paced her team with a game-high 13 kills, while Aubree Parker added 10 kills. Both setters, Jasmine Henderson (Jr./ St. Louis, MO) and Demera Thomason had majority of the assists with 16 and 10 recorded respectively. Defensively, Jenessa Shinalud led VSU with 20 digs and Bradley pitched in with 7 digs.
