BRIDGEWATER, Va. (Sept. 19, 2026) – The Virginia State University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday at the Bridgewater Tri-Match, falling to Penn State Harrisburg, 3-1, before dropping a 3-1 decision to host Bridgewater.
The Trojans opened the day against Penn State Harrisburg and battled through four sets. VSU dropped the opening two sets, 25-21 and 25-19, before responding with a 25-23 victory in the third set. Penn State Harrisburg closed out the match with a 25-14 win in the fourth set.
Wynter Hill led the Trojans offensively with 10 kills, while Gracie Darville added eight kills. Anya McKinley finished with six kills, and Kyrie Willis contributed six kills off the bench. Leila Jackson recorded 21 assists, while Kellee Craig added 21 digs.
VSU finished the match with 47 kills and 45 assists, while recording 45 digs and four blocks.
The Trojans returned to the court later Saturday afternoon against Bridgewater. VSU took an early lead in the third set, but Bridgewater claimed the match, 25-23, 25-14, 21-25, 25-16.
Hill paced the Trojans once again, recording a team-high 12 kills while hitting .435. Noa Roberts added 10 kills, while Gracie Darville finished with six kills. Kellee Craig led VSU defensively with 27 digs, and Leila Jackson recorded 18 assists.
The Trojans posted 44 kills and 42 assists in the match while totaling 57 digs. VSU also recorded 13 blocks, including four combined blocks from Hill and Rayne Peavy.
