Trojan Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Chowan, 16-9

ETTRICK, Va. (Mar. 11, 2026) – The Virginia State University men's lacrosse team dropped a 16-9 decision to Chowan University Wednesday afternoon.

Chowan (4-3) jumped out to an early lead, scoring six goals in the opening quarter to take control of the game. Virginia State (1-4) answered with a goal in the first period and another in the second, but the Hawks carried a 9-2 advantage into halftime.

The Trojans showed more offensive rhythm in the second half. Virginia State scored twice in the third quarter and added five goals in the final period, but Chowan continued to respond offensively to maintain the lead and secure the 16-9 victory.

Offensively, Noah Byers led the Trojans with four goals. Blake Hodges added two goals, while Miles JacksonHayden Morrison, and Christian Watts each scored once. Jackson, Morrison, Jayden Quil, and Amari Kennedy each recorded an assist for Virginia State.

Chowan was paced by Reed Low and Todd Eagan, who each scored four goals, while Seth MacKenzie finished with two goals and a game-high six assists.

The Hawks held a slight edge in shots (43-34) and ground balls (32-19), while also converting all three of their extra-man opportunities. Virginia State went 1-for-5 with the man advantage.
