Norfolk, Va. (Apr. 5, 2025)- Both Jalen Brownlee and Jahaz Morgan finished first in their respective events for the Virginia State University Men's Track & Field team. 

Brownlee finished with a time of 1:58.90 in the 800 meter to collect his first-place finish. Gabriel Miles in the same race placed fifth with a time of 2:10.08. The distance runners continued their strong showing in the 1500-meter run collecting second, third, fifth and sixth place. 

In the 100-meter dash Jeryll Gaines and Reginald Bell both finished in the top 10 with Gaines finishing with a personal best time of 10.79. Amarion Harell also ran a personal best 21.28 in the 200-meter dash and placed sixth. Gaines also took part in the high jump and had a high mark of 1.80 meters which was good for eighth place. The VSU 4x400 relay team had a season best time of 3:24.29. 

Morgan finished first in the long jump with a mark of 6.98 meters which is the 51st best mark in all of division 2. Morgan also competed in the triple jump with a mark of 14.56 meters which was good for second in the meet and 23rd best mark in division 2.  

Virginia State will be back in action next Saturday April 12 as they travel to University of Mount Olive for the Trojan Relays.
