Ettrick, Va. (Mar. 7, 2025)- The Virginia State University Men's Lacrosse team welcomed Lander University to Rogers Stadium but dropped the game 21-5.
Lander scored 31 seconds into the game, but Miles Jackson assisted Andre Bigham a minute later to tie the game. The Bearcats then scored six of the next seven goals with Donovan Elmore being the Trojan to net the goal for VSU. Going into the second quarter Lander scored six straight goals to go into halftime 13-2.
The Trojans scored first coming out of halftime as Jesse Goebel found Bigham up top who ripped off a shot that found the back of the net. However, LU scored five straight goals before Jayden Reid won a faceoff and went from the X all the way to the goal and fired off a shot the went past the goalie making it 18-4. The last VSU goal came from Kalani Laughlin assisted by Jesse Goebel in the fourth stanza.
Jace Wiggins finished with a team high eight ground balls and 17 saves. The Trojans will stay home to take on Dominican University of New York on Sunday March 9 at 11 AM.
