Men's Track perform well at South Carolina

Columbia, S.C.(Mar. 22, 2025)-The Virginia State track team opened their outdoor season over the past two days at South Carolina University Weem's Baskin Meet.

For the men the distance group stepped up with Jalen Brownlee running his seasons best of 1:58.39. He finished 9th overall. Emmanuel Williams ran a season's best in the 1500m with a 4:22. The jumpers also had a fair weekend. Joseph Briscoe jumped 1.96m (6'5) in the High jump and he finished 5th overall. Kwame Whitaker jumped 6.83m (22'05). He finished 8th overall.

The sprinters also had a successful weekend. Amarion Harrell ran a season's best in the 400m dash with 48.27 and finished 6th overall and 22.19 in the 200m. Leonie Bentley ran a season's best time in the 100m dash with a 10.60 and a personal best in the 200m with a of 22.27. Savion Edward's race a personal best in the 100m with a 10.72.

Men's 4 x 100 finished 5th overall and ran a season's best of 42.09, Savion Edward's, Leonie Bentley, Reggie Bell and Jeryll Gaines. Men's 4x400 finished 9th with a 3:27.27, Elijah Epps, Michael Brown, Savion Edwards, and Reggie Bell
