Trojans Struggle as Hampton Secures Victory
Petersburg, Va. — In a high-energy clash, the Hampton Lady Pirates outpaced the Virginia State Trojans, securing a decisive 7-1 victory. The match, held at Virginia State University, saw Hampton's relentless offense overcome the Trojans' defense, leading to a comprehensive win.
The game began with both teams showing strong defensive efforts, but it was Hampton who broke through first. In the 19th minute, the Pirates scored the opening goal for the Lady Pirates. Hampton's momentum continued as they managed to score two more goals before halftime. Despite Virginia State's efforts to penetrate Hampton's defense and get on the board, the Trojans struggled to find their rhythm in the first half. Hampton's superior offensive play and defensive solidity kept them in control.
The second half saw Virginia State trying to make a comeback. The Trojans' persistence paid off when Loryn Srurgis scored a goal with an assist from Tatiana Ward, marking Virginia State's lone goal of the match in the 56th minute. However, Hampton responded with even more intensity. Hampton's final goal came late in the game by finding the back of the net. Despite Virginia State's continued efforts to fend off the Pirates and put additional points on the board, they could not turn the tide of the match.
