Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Trojans grind out victory over Edinboro

Ettrick, Va (March 7, 2024)- The Virginia State University women's lacrosse team won a close 10-9 game over Edinboro University. The team used some great defense in the lat stages of the game.

The Fighting Scotts scored first, before Jhalin Hooks, Grace Hall and Adrien Wise scored three straight goals for the Trojans. Edinboro would add one more before the final 15 minutes to make the score 3-2. Then just four minutes into the second quarter the Scotts would tie the game. Both teams would add one more goal to make the halftime score 4-4.

Edinboro would score three of the first four goals in the third quarter to have a 7-6 advantage. The one goal for the Trojans came courtesy of Hooks. However, from the 4:30 minute mark in the third quarter to the 9:47 mark in the fourth VSU scored five of the six goals making it 10-8. Hooks had three goals, Wise had one and Adriana Davis scored her first career collegiate goal. The Trojans then toughened up on the defensive end and only allowed the Fighting Scotts to score a free position goal with 27 seconds left the only free position shot the Edinboro team converted.

Hooks finished with 5 goals scored on 5 shots taken. With the win the Trojans move to 3-2 and will play Converse University next Wednesday March 13 at 6 pm.
