Virginia State Bounces Back with 93-50 Win Over Shepherd in Trojan Tip-Off Classic
Ettrick, VA—The Virginia State University Men's basketball team continued the second day of the Trojan Tip-Off Classic against the Rams of Shepherd University on Saturday, November 9, at 7:00 p.m.
Virginia State University's men's basketball team rebounded from an opening-game loss to Gannon University with a 93-50 victory over Shepherd University in the Trojan Tip-Off Classic. VSU displayed improved shooting and defensive intensity, controlling the game from the outset.
The Trojans started strong, shooting 57.7% from the field in the first half and maintaining consistent accuracy, finishing with a 56.5% shooting percentage overall and 52% from three-point range.
Jared White led the scoring effort with 15 points, supported by
Jacob Cooper,
Dajour Rucker, and
Tim Uzochuwku, each adding 11 points. VSU's bench contributed significantly, scoring 53 points in total.
Defensively, VSU held Shepherd to 28% shooting from the field and only 13% from beyond the arc, converting Shepherd's 13 turnovers into fast-break opportunities. Virginia State also outscored Shepherd 38-18 in the paint and recorded 13 second-chance points.
