High Powered Offense Leads Trojans Over Carolina 105-65 in the First Day of VSU Thanksgiving Classic

ETTRICK, VA – The Virginia State men's basketball exploded offensively yet again after taking down the Bruins of Carolina University 105-65. The Trojans shot an incredible 12-of-24 (50%) from the three-point range while shooting 59% from the field. The VSU bench showed out against Carolina accounting for 37 points. VSU outrebounded the Bruins 38-14 in the contest. Virginia State forced 24 turnovers while accounting for a season-high 15 steals in the contest. They also earned a season-high 27 assists in the contest. Daryl Mackey, Jr. recorded his first double-digit game of the season scoring 13 points
 
 
Terrence Hunter-Whitfield (21) and Francis "BJ" Fitzgerald (20) combined for 41 points in the contest. Hunter-Whitfield ripped down a team-high eight rebounds as he went 8-of-11 (73%) from the field and 2-of-4 (50%) from three-point land with a team leading four steals. Francis "BJ" Fitzgerald went a remarkable 6-of-10 (60%) from three-point range and 7-of-13 (54%) from the field. Fitzgerald also accounted for four assists with a steal. Daryl Mackey, Jr. recorded his first double-digit game of the season scoring 13 points on 5-of-6 (83%) shooting from the field. Tremere Brown (10) Stephan Morris (10) combined for 20 points in the contest as Morris grabbed five boards on 4-of-7 (57%) shooting from the field. Brown shot 5-of-8 (63%) from the field with our rebounds. Dajour Rucker joined in on the fun scoring a personal season-high nine points with three rebounds.
