Lynchburg, VA (April 18, 2021) - The Virginia State University Men's Outdoor Track & Field team shined this Saturday in the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic as the squad placed fourth of 23 teams. They traveled to Lynchburg, Virginia where the Trojans competed in eleven events at the Scellenberger Field & Dr. Jack M.Toms Track on the campus of the University of Lynchburg.
Field
For the third meet this season, Emmauel Oguntoye has placed first in the Triple Jump as his best jump covered 14.25m.
Daryl Mackey placed first for the first time this season in the Long Jump as he out jumped 10 contenders covering 6.87m.
Isaiah Ramadane placed third of 30 throwers in the Shot Put as he was able to cover 13.00m with his throw.
Devonte Moore placed a spot behind Ramadane with his throw that covered 12.92m.
Ramadane placed sixth of 27 competitors in the Discus throw, as he was able to cover 43.13m with his throw. Moores' throw went 36.80m.
Malik Rush placed 12th of 24 Javelin throwers as he threw it 38.38m.
Track
Jonathan Gordon won the 110 Hurdles after placing first of 18 sprinters with his 14.77.
Alijah Benymon placed seventh after finishing in 15.98.
Trelee Banks Rose completed the 200 in 21.71 seconds, which was a personal best for him and placed him firmly in second place of 45 sprinters.
Victor Smith earned his first of two personal best on the day, as he was able to finish in 22.31 seconds that placed him eighth. Randolph placed 37th finishing in 23.44 seconds.
Smith led the charge for the Trojans in the 100 as he made it to the finals after setting a personal best in the Preliminaries posting a 10.92. Randolph finished his race in 11.53.
Joel Bowers finished the 800 in 2:06.45, which placed him 33rd of 69 runners.
The 1500 saw both Virginia State runners set personal best as
Elijah Johnson ran a 4:37.37 while
Darrell Dyson finished in 4:41.31.

The Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field teams will have a month off before they travel to Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, V.A. to compete in the VSU Last Chance Meet on May 16.
