KANSAS CITY, Mo. (January 29, 2019) – In a week that saw very little movement in the NCAA Division II men's basketball Top 25, Virginia State University secured the No. 24 spot on Tuesday when the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) released its weekly NCAA Division II poll.
Coach Lonnie Blow's Trojans (17-3) tacked on two more double-digit wins where the Orange and Blue has grown its winning streak to 13. The Trojans are currently undefeated in conference play.
Virginia State University got things started on Wednesday with an 81-79 victory over Chowan and defeating Elizabeth City State, 69-54, on Saturday night. The top 10 teams in this week's poll remained unchanged from a week ago. This marks the first time this year that the Trojans men's basketball program has been ranked.
Virginia State faces a pair of tough challenges in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association play this week. The Trojans will travel to Bowie, Maryland on Wednesday to take on the Bulldogs. The last time the two teams met was last season where the Trojans secured a 75-65 victory on Feb. 21, 2018.
The Trojans will then return home for a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Matchup on Saturday against Lincoln University. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m. at the VSU Multipurpose Center.
