ETTRICK, VA (September 25, 2018) - The Virginia State Trojan volleyball team continues their trek through conference play after hosting the Bowie State Bulldogs in a rescheduled matchup.

The Trojans won the 3-set match in an extremely dominate fashion. VSU quadrupled the statistic output of Bowie State in almost very team category.

The first set started out relatively slow for both teams, until the Trojans jumped ahead with 10 straight points. The score ruled in favor of the Trojans for the rest of the set as they secured a 25-12.

The momentum and energy from the first set carried over into set two. Neither the Trojans nor the Bulldogs returned to the top of their serving order thanks to the Trojans scoring 13 points with Tiara Ramey at the helm of the serve. The Bulldogs were not able to go through their full rotation before the set ended. Despite a few service errors, VSU won set two in an even more convincing manner with a set score of 25-8.

The third set brought more intensity than the other sets as BSU attempted to rally back. However, the result was in favor of VSU, with a set score of 25-18.

Jailyn Ivey paced VSU's offensive performance with 10 kills. Teammates Ambria McBride and Hailey Heyward were not too far behind with 8 and 7 kills respectively.

VSU currently holds a 13-5 overall record, 7-2 in the CIAA.

VSU will return to action on September 27 for a home matchup against the Hawks of Chowan University. The first serve is set for 6pm at the VSU Multipurpose Center.
