ETTRICK, VA (April 21, 2018)- The Virginia State University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams not only hosted the VSU Trojan Invite, but secured a combined 40 Top 5 finishes at the meet!

The teams that participated in the invite along with the VSU Trojans included Barton College, Bowie State University, Virginia Union University, Shaw University, St. Augustine's University, Norfolk State University, Methodist College, and Prince George Community College.
MEN'S TOP 5 FINISHES
On the men's side of the team, the Trojans dominated their home invite with four first place finishes. Allen Blair secured a 1st place finish in the 200m with a time of 21.39 while Jahvante Marcelle captured the 110 Hurdle top finish with a time of 15.05. Rounding the track with first place finishes in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays were Stephen Anderson, Allen Blair, Steven Murdock and Keith Barbour with a time of 41.40 and Tyron Evans, Allen Blair, Steven Murdock and Milton Coleman-Sledge with a time of 3:19.66 respectively. In the Collecting a first place field event finish in the men's javelin was Dajawn Williams with a range of 154'2".
Blair returned to the awards stand with a second place time of 10.71 in the 100m. Tyreece Huff did a double take to the awards platform with a second place 1500m time of 4:11.25 and a 5000m time of 16:36.17. Lamonte Allen jumped his way to a 400m Hurdle second place finish with a time of 56.04, while Stephen Anderson and Emmanuel Oguntoye placed second in the long jump (21'9.5") and the triple jump (48'6.75") respectively. Rounding out the second place finishes with a discus range of 136'10" was Brandon Slade.
On the track, Steven Murdock took a third place 400m finish with a time of 49.33 while Nickolas Stackfield collected 2 third place finishes with a 1500m time of 4:12.32 and a 5000m time of 14:47.64. Leaping his way to third place 110 hurdle finish was Antoine Sanders, with a time of 15.28. In the field events, Dajawn Williams collected a third place pole vault measurement of 10'11.75" while Brandon Slade and Marcus Hudson collect third place throws finishes in shot put (45'1") and javelin (139'0") respectively.
The Trojans collected 3 fourth place finishes during their home invite. Justin Walls secured a 110 hurdle time of 16.40, Milton Coleman-Sledge captured a long jump leap of 21'8", and Mailk Rush threw for 133'4" in the javelin event.
Rounding out the top 5 finishes for VSU was Louis Anderson with an 800m fifth place time of 2:00.65, Justin Walls with a 400 Hurdle time of 56.57, Keith Barbour with a long jump range of 21'6.75", Dajawn Williams with a triple jump leap of 44'3.25" and Marcus Hudson with a discus throw of 112'5".
WOMEN TOP 5 FINISHES
Controlling the throws events for the Trojans was NCAA qualifier Jeia Gilliam with first place finishes in the discus event (157'4"), the shot put event (44'6") and the javelin event (136'5"). Also taking charge of her respective field event was Christina Adlam, with a first place long jump range of 18'2.25". On the track, Zainbab Bangura secured a first place 100m time of 12.38 while Kyla Frank took the 800m title with a time of 2:17.96.
Jade Jordan remains consistent in her field events with a second place high jump range of 5'8.75", a second place long jump leap of 17'9.75" and a triple jump second place measurement of 37'2.5".
Securing a third place spot at the awards platform was Kyla Frank with a 1550 time of 4:57.70 and Kenya Warner with a long jump leap of 17'8.25".
Rounding out the invite with a fourth place 400m time of 58.23 was senior Alexandria Moseley.
