Trojans Competed in Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, VA - The Virginia State University Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field team competed in the 2018 Colonial Relays hosted by the College of William and Mary on Friday, April 5.

Rhode Island, California (Pa), Morgan State, Monroe College, Norfolk State, Lock Haven, Mount St Mary's, William & Mary, Villanova, Lynchburg, Shippensburg, Delaware State, Duquesne, Christopher Newport, St Joseph's (Pa), ST Francis (NY), Kuztown, Virginia Wesleyan, VCU, Stonehill, UMES, Rider, Mount Olive, Widener, Stony Brook, Columbia, UNCW, Fordham, George Mason, UMass- Lowell, Quinnipiac, Marist, Jefferson (Pa), and Delaware.
 
MEN'S RESULTS
Freshman standout Allen Blair, continues his successful year, and is putting himself in the position to be amongst the top men's sprinters in the CIAA. He is ranked 3rd in the 100, 1st in the 200, and 2nd in the long jump on the CIAA Men's Performance list. Blair is currently ranked # 13 in the 200 meters with a time of 21.21 on the 2018 NCAA DII National Outdoor Track & Field Provisional list.
During the 2018 Colonial Relays, Blair placed 6th in the 100M finals with a time of 10.66, 3rd in the 200M with a time of 21.21 and leaped into 4th place with a 6.97M jump in the Long Jump competition. With a total of seven top 10 finishes on the day, the Trojans will look to increase that number in its next meet.
Keith Barbour, a consistent contender for the Trojans, came in right behind Blair for a 5th place finish in the Long Jump finials, leaping 6.92M. Stephen Anderson reeled in a 2nd place victory in the Men's Long Jump University Finals, leaping to the 6.68M mark. Brandon Slade was able to throw the shot put out to the 14.06M mark, earning him 9th place in the Men's Shot Put University Finals, while Malik Rush tossed the Javelin to the 39.58M mark earning him 5th place in the Men's Javelin University Finals, as well as Dajawn Williams coming in 7th place with his 38.35M throw.
 
WOMEN'S RESULTS
The Women's team had their success at the field, bringing in 3 top 10 finishes. Christina Adlam jumped into 8th place in the Women's Long Jump University Finals, at the 5.31M mark, while Jade Jordan came right behind her with a 5.30M mark performance, earning 10th place in the competition. Jeia Gilliam, who has emerged herself as one of the stronger Shot Put and Javelin contenders for the Trojans, tossed the Javelin to the 39.78M mark, bringing her into the 6th place spot in the Women's Javelin Championship Finals.
 
UP NEXT
The Trojans will travel to Elon, North Carolina, to compete in the Phoenix Invitational on Saturday, April 14. Learning from every meet, the Trojans continue to prepare for the CIAA Championships on May 5-6 in Bowie, MD.
