ETTRICK, Va. (February 19, 2018) – The Virginia State University men's and women's basketball teams will travel to Bowie, Maryland to face the Bulldogs of Bowie State University (BSU) at A.C. Jordan Arena on Wednesday, Feb. 21. The women's game will tipoff at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
The matchup between the Trojans and the Bulldogs will be broadcasted live on WVST 91.3 FM HERE.
The Women's Game: The Trojans (21-3, 11-3 CIAA, 5-3 North) defeated the Lady Vikings of Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) 69-58 at the R.L Vaughan Center on Feb. 17. Senior, Alexis Smith led the Trojans with 23 points, four rebounds, four assists and five steals. Chrisanna Green was VSU's second leading scorer finishing with 21 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals. Mia Fitts chipped in with nine points, while Dionna Marcus and Endia McKinney finished with six points each.
Bowie State women's basketball team (15-8, 8-6 CIAA, 3-5 North) seems to have Chowan's number, sweeping the Hawks for the second straight season and cruised to a huge 71-62 road win on Feb. 17 in the Helms Center. Seniors Kiara Colston (Burtonsville, Md.) and Kyah Proctor (Capital Heights, Md.) paced the Bulldogs with 19 and 16 points respectively. Sophomores Dynaisha Christian (Pocomoke, Md.) and Kyaja Williams (Baltimore, Md.) tallied eight points each while redshirt junior Pere Alexander (Baltimore, Md.) came off the Bowie State bench to contribute seven points. Williams was Bowie State's leading rebounder with 10.

The Men's Game: The Trojans (21-3, 11-3 CIAA, 7-1 North) collected a 75-63 victory over the Vikings of Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) at the R.L Vaughan Center on Feb. 17. Richard Granberry led the way with a game high performance posting 19 points and eight rebounds. Cyonte Melvin finished with 12 points and four rebounds. Walter Williams chipped in with 10 points. Brandon Holley finished the contest with nine and one assist. Philip Owens and Waymond Wright chipped in with six points each. William Vedder secured five points, while Trey Brown and Andrew Corum helped the Trojans with four points each.
BSU men (12-13, 7-7 CIAA, 5-3 North) fell to the Hawks of Chowan University 86-63 on Feb. 17 in the Helms Center. Bowie State (12-13, 7-7 CIAA, 5-3 North) was led by senior Ahmaad Wilson (Baltimore, Md.) with 24 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field (4-of-8 beyond the arc). Senior Omari George (Baltimore, Md.) hit 6-of-12 field goals and 6-of-7 free throws to finish with 18 points and tied for game-high rebound honors with nine. Sophomore Cameron Hayes (Upper Marlboro, Md.) and senior Dayshawn Wells (Baltimore, Md.) completed Bowie State's double figure scorers with 15 and 10 points respectively.
The Trojans fell short to the Bulldogs, 65-55, at home on Jan. 27, 2018.
