ETTRICK, Va. (February 16, 2018) – The Virginia State University men's and women's basketball teams will travel to North Carolina to face the Vikings of Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) at R.L. Vaughan Center on Saturday, Feb. 17. The women's game will tipoff at 2 p.m., followed by the men's game at 4 p.m.

The Women's Game: The Trojans (20-3, 10-3 CIAA, 4-3 North) defeated the Hawks of Chowan University (CU), 72-68, at the VSU Multipurpose Centers on Feb. 10. Senior Alexis Smith led the Trojans with 24 points and two rebounds. Dionna Marcus was VSU's second leading scorer with 16 points and cleaned up the glass with nine total rebounds. Junior Chrisanna Green chipped in with 10 points, while senior Mia Fitts finished with 9 points.
The Lady Vikings women's basketball team (9-15, 2-10 CIAA, 0-7 North) suffered a tough 82-70 loss to the Lions of Lincoln University on Feb. 10. Devona Stell led the Lady Vikings with 24 points, eight rebounds two assists and one steal.
The Trojans collected a 44-41 victory over the Lady Vikings at home on Jan. 24, 2018.
The Men's Game: The Trojans (20-3, 10-3 CIAA, 6-1 North) defeated the Hawks of Chowan University, 70-68, at the VSU Multipurpose Center on Feb. 10. Senior Trey Brown led the Trojans with 18 points and four rebounds. Senior Richard Granberry was VSU's second leading scorer, ending the contest with a double-double performance with 15 points and, cleaned up the glass with 11 total rebounds. Cyonte Melvin, Walter Williams, and Brandon Holley all chipped in with 9 points each.
ECSU men (10-12, 3-9 CIAA, 2-5 North) fell to the Lions of Lincoln University 69-54 on Feb. 10 at Manuel Rivero Hall. Shyheid Petteway led the Vikings with 13 points and two rebounds.
The Trojans collected a 67-64 victory over the Vikings at home on Jan. 24, 2018.
