ETTRICK, Va. (November 23, 2018) – Coming off a 3-2 start to the 2018-19 season, the Virginia State University men's basketball team will travel to Wheeling, W.Va.to face the Cardinals of Wheeling Jesuit University on Saturday, Nov. 24 at the Alma Grace McDonough Center on the campus of Wheeling Jesuit University.

- A Cliff St. Juste layup gave Cheyney a 7-4 lead five minutes in
- Vedder capped a 7-0 run to give VSU a 16-9 advantage
- Griebe pushed the lead to eight at the 6:27 mark; a Griebe dunk made it 23-15

Jahmere Howze free throws gave VSU a 30-15 lead with two minutes left in the half
- Cheyney added its final basket of the half on a layup at the 00:26 second mark
- VSU took at 31-22 lead at the half
SECOND HALF
- Howze's layup gave Virginia State a six-point lead five minutes into the second half
- A Jalen Branch pair of free throws cut the Trojans lead 67-48 at the 3:50 mark
- A Miles layup gave the Trojans a 72-48 edge with 2:26 remaining
- VSU hit a free throws and a basket in the final seven seconds to make the final margin 73-50
