ETTRICK, Va. (January 26, 2018) – The Virginia State University men's and women's basketball teams will host the Bulldogs of Bowie State University (BSU) at the VSU Multipurpose Center on Saturday, Jan. 27. The women's game will tipoff at 1 p.m., followed by the men's game at 4 p.m.

The Women's Game: The Trojans (16-2, 6-2 CIAA, 1-2 North) defeated the Lady Vikings of Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) 44-41 at the VSU Multipurpose Center on Jan. 24.
Alexis Smith led the Trojans with 26 points, four assists and six steals.
Chrisanna Green continued to clean up the glass with another five points and nine rebounds.
Dionna Marcus chipped in with six points.
Mia Fitts finished with five points.

Sade Chatman (Minneapolis, Ind.) scored a career-high 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting and hauled down a game-high 11 rebounds to help the Bowie State Bulldogs (13-5, 6-3 CIAA, 1-2 North) ground the Chowan Hawks 71-65 in a key CIAA Northern Division matchup on Wednesday evening. With the win, Bowie State improves its season mark to 13-5 overall, 6-3 in league play and 1-2 in the CIAA North. Freshman Talanya Hutton (Seat Pleasant, Md.) came off the Bulldogs bench to record a career-high 13 points via a perfect 5-of-5 shooting from the field and senior Ty-Nita Baker (Houston, Miss.) tallied 10 points to go along with a game-high four assists. Senior Kyah Proctor (Capital Heights, Md.) finished with eight points while fellow senior Kiara Colston (Burtonsville, Md.) wrapped up the night with seven points. Colston is 10 points away from joining the Bowie State Bulldogs' 1,000 Point Club. Sophomore Kyaja Williams (Baltimore, Md.) rounded out Bowie State's scorers with six points to go along with nine rebounds off the bench.
Last season, the Trojans took a (46-43, 59-55) victory over the Lady Vikings on the road and at home on Jan. 25, 2017 and Feb. 15, 2017.
The Men's Game: The Trojans (17-1, 7-1 CIAA, 3-0 North) secured a 67-64 victory over the Vikings of Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) tonight at the VSU Multipurpose Center on Jan. 24.
Trey Brown led the way with a double-double performance posting 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Cyonte Melvin finished with 14 points and five rebounds.
Richard Granberry and
Andrew Corum chipped in with nine points respectively.
Waymond Wright finished the contest with seven points, one rebound, five assists, and one steal. Lual Rahama helped the Trojans with six points.
BSU men (9-11, 4-5 CIAA, 2-1 North) defeated the Chowan Hawks 68-63 on Wednesday in BSU's A.C. Jordan Arena on Jan. 24. Senior Omari George (Baltimore, Md.) led Bowie State with a team-high 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field and sophomore teammate Saiquan Jamison (Upper Marlboro, Md.) pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds in the victory to go along with eight points. Freshman Justin Route (Washington, D.C.) made his first start of the year and finished the game with eight points (tying his season-high), tied for team-high assists honors with three, accounted for a team-high three steals and had one block.
Last season, the Trojans yielded a split (71-64, 61-65) decision to the Bulldogs of BSU on Jan. 25, 2017 and Feb. 15, 2017.
