ETTRICK, VA – The Virginia State Trojans (6-1, 3-0 CIAA) came to play in a home match against Southern Virginia University securing a 6-3 victory on Thursday afternoon. The Trojans dominated the match with firepower over the visiting Knights of SVU.
Doubles competition was led by
Sydney Yao and
Tamisha Richardson at the No. 1 position, as the dynamic duo eliminated SVU players Lauren Morrison and Makaela Adamson, 8-2. In the No. 2 doubles position,
Felicia Tucker and
Christina Washington came out on top against Kelly Worthington and Laura Elko by a score of 8-2. Kari Stollenwerk and EmmaLee Erekson defeated
Katlyn Kearney and
Charde Washington in the No. 3 spot for Southern Virginia University.
On the singles side, four Trojans rolled to two-set wins, including 6-0, 6-2, and 6-2, 6-2 results from the No. 1 and 2 positions. The 6-3 match victory becomes the team's sixth consecutive win of the 2017 spring campaign.
VSU will be back in action on Saturday, March 18 at 1pm as they host Concord University.
