CHARLOTTE, NC- The VSU men's outdoor track and team finished 3
rd at the CIAA Championships on April 22-23. Under the leadership of head coach Jason-Lamont Jackson, the Trojans have had a great season thus far.
Senior
Justin Williams took the first place finish in the 110M hurdle with a time of 14.18.
"I don't know what more I can say about Justin," said Coach Jackson. "He works hard, is passionate about this sport, his teammates and competing to the best of his ability. Defending his 110 Hurdle title from last year wasn't easy and I'm so proud of him. He's close to the school record, has been invited to compete in the hurdles at Penn Relays and has punched his ticket to nationals in May. Cant end on a better note!"
Claiming the men's first place pole vault title was senior
Zakari Greene with a range of 3.35m.
"Zach has won the Indoor and Outdoor Pole Vault titles. He's been an extremely hard worker from his freshman year until now," explained Coach Jackson. "He competed in the High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Javelin and Pole Vault, his attitude was whatever it takes to help the team get on the podium. He is the epitome of consistency and hard work"
Collectively, the Trojans earned a total of 107.33 points with top 3 finishes in the 110m Hurdles, 4x100 Relay, 4x400 Relay, men's high jump and men's pole vault.
