RICHMOND, Va.- The VSU Trojans men's outdoor track and field team earned several first place finishes at the 2016 Fred Hardy Invite, hosted by University of Richmond on March 25-26.
Rookie
Steven Murdock, sophomore
Devon Thompson, senior
Justin Williams and sophomore
Bigal Harrison earned VSU the 1
st place finish in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:14.82.
Also chipping in a 1
st place finish were Harrison in the 400m relay with a time of 48.54 and senior
Zakari Greene with range of 14.28m in the men's triple jump.
VSU also took numerous 2nd place finishes at the invite. Thompson placed 2
nd in the 400m relay with a time of 49.25 while senior
Arthur Ashton finished 2
nd in the 110m Hurdle with time of 15.07. Sophomore
Jermaine Owens secured a 2
nd place range of 13.84m in the men's triple jump, while the 4x100 quartet of Murdock, rookie
Avontae Ferguson, junior
Lawrence Harris and sophomore
Travis Henderson secured a 2
nd place finish with a time of 41.70.
The Trojans will travel to High Point, NC to participate in the High Point Univ. Vertklasse on April 1-2.
