The 2023 season will mark Caitlin Freer's second season as an assistant volleyball coach at Virginia State University after joining the staff prior to the start of the 2022 season.
Last season, the Trojans went 15-16 overall with a 9-8 mark in league action and qualified for the CIAA Volleyball Championship Tournament as a fifth seed. Najlaa Williams and Amaya Cooper were second-team All-CIAA selections. Cooper was also a All-CIAA rookie team selection.
For her work with the Richmond Volleyball Club, the American Volleyball Coaches Association named Coach Freer as a Thirty Under 30 Club award recipient in June 2023. In total, Freer has more than six years of experience coaching volleyball. In 2021, Coach Freer was an assistant coach with the Northern Lights Junior Volleyball Organization.
