Amanda Allen

Amanda Allen joins Virginia State University as Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach, bringing more than 36 years of involvement in the sport as a player, parent, and coach. Known simply as “Coach Amanda” to many of the athletes she works with, she brings a wide-ranging coaching background across the youth, high school, club, academy, and collegiate levels.

Amanda most recently worked with RCVA Volleyball Academy as a 17 East Coast Assistant/Head Co-Coach after previously serving as Head Co-Coach for the 18 Nationals team. Her coaching experience also includes Richard Bland College, area high school programs, clubs in  both Virginia and Illinois, and court coaching in USA Volleyball High Performance tryouts..

Throughout her coaching career, Amanda has led practice planning, skill development, lineup preparation, team standards and expectations, player and parent communication, and the teaching of volleyball rules, techniques, and strategies at competitive levels. At Richard Bland College, she supported the program through live statistics, setter training, scouting, recruiting assistance, and practice support. She has also worked extensively through private lessons and clinics, helping athletes strengthen their fundamentals, develop confidence, and better understand the game.

Amanda’s coaching style is energetic, honest, and development-focused. She believes hard work can be purposeful, demanding, and fun, and she is committed to creating an environment where student-athletes feel supported, challenged, and excited to compete. Her approach is rooted in trust, clear communication, and giving athletes the honest feedback they need to grow as players, teammates, and people.
