Jahmere Howze joined the Virginia State Men's Basketball Coaching Staff in August 2022 and the 2023-24 season will mark his second season as a graduate assistant coach for the Trojans.
Coach Howze is a 2019 graduate of Virginia State, where he also played on the 2018-19 Trojans squad that was named HBCU Mid-Major National Champions, CIAA Tournament Champions, and an appearance in the NCAA Atlantic Region Semifinals. Virginia State won a school-record 28 games that year with Howze earning a place on the All-CIAA and the All-District teams after averaging a team-high 14.1 points, plus 5.9 rebounds per game.
Howze attended the California University of Pennslyvania in 2017-18 and Urbana University from 2015-17. Howze averaged 16.6 points and 6.9 rebounds for the Vulcans and finished with career totals of 15.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game for the Blue Knights. He was a 2016-17 All-Mountain East Conference (MEC) Honorable Mention.
Coach Howze is a native of Cleveland, Ohio and he has played basketball overseas in Germany and Chile and his other coaching experience was Head Junior Varsity Coach at Warrensville Heights High School in Ohio.
